Porcelain veneers are a form of cosmetic dentistry that can mask undesirable defects such as stained teeth by an injury or as a result of a root-canal procedure, and are ideal for masking discoloured fillings in front teeth without the need of braces or extensive procedures. Patients with gaps between their front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may also be good candidates for porcelain veneers.
The procedure involves removing a thin amount of tooth enamel, taking molds of the mouth and then placing in a temporary veneer while the permanent veneers are being made. Once made the veneers are placed over the teeth and aligned to restore a perfect smile.
